Potty Seats

Whatever you think about it potty training has to start sometime, usually around the age of two. Some children, girls more than boys, take to it quite well and become clean and dry with a minimum of fuss – with others this stage can be a long drawn out process. Some children are resistant to potty training and pushing the issue too hard can make them feel insecure. Potty training requires love and patience if you want them to be diaper free and toilet trained without too many tantrums. Sometimes a child’s transition from the potty to the toilet is made easier through the use of a potty seat.

Try to make potty training an adventure. If your child is getting too big for the potty and is ready to use the big toilet then take them with you to choose a potty training seat. These seats sit over the toilet so that your child does not feel scared of falling in. You can buy plain seats, patterned seats, and seats with ladders attached so your child can have fun choosing a potty seat. A potty seat with steps is a great idea if your child resists being lifted everywhere - the steps make them feel more independent as they are able to reach the potty seat with a minimum of assistance.

You should always supervise your child while they are using a potty seat. Potty training seats have been known to slip and this could make your child resistant to the idea – so keep an eye on him or her. No need to interrupt your potty training programme if you are going out somewhere or away for awhile get your child a folding travel potty seat or one of the on the go potty seats. The elmo potty seat has elmo singing a song so that your child can learn while they are being potty trained. A folding potty seat is fine for when you are away from home but keep your child’s favorite for general use.

Thomas the train potty seat fits most adult toilets and your toddler will be training with one of their favorite pals. Nowadays there is a large range of potty seats available for toddlers – including travel potty seats for toddlers. Little girls often like the dora potty seat – a fold up potty seat may not be right for all children as they are more likely to slip and can be dangerous for handicapped children. Potty seats need to fit securely and well on the toilet. Some children enjoy a musical potty seat which gives them something to listen to while they are sat on the toilet.
