A babysitter is something you will no doubt need and use during your child's early years. And thankfully, usually babysitters are not all that hard to find either. Chances are just about any one in your neighborhood, or even your family will know where you can find a baby sitter.

Most often you will need baby sitters if you're planning a night out on the town, going out to supper, visiting other friends or just wanting to have a bit of a child break and go to a movie. You might also have business commitments where you cannot take your children. If you can't find a teenager in your area to be a free babysitter then you might want to consider trying babysitter services. A babysitter service typically has a list of available and reliable, well trained sitters who have been taught to use a babysitter checklist for each new job they are sent on. Prior to hiring any babysitters, the service will also perform a babysitter background check to ensure the sitters they send out on jobs are trustworthy.

Now the question about babysitter compensation! It can be done by the hour or by the job or by how much work you want the babysitter to do. Typically, if you hire a local teen, you'd be paying by the hour. If you hire through the agency you may pay by the hour as well, or by the total job. Babysitter pay is such a moving target, that often it's just best if you negotiate with the sitter prior to her arrival, if you are using a local teenager. If on the other hand you are using a mature babysitter, then the price for sitting is definitely going to be higher.

If you haven't had much luck finding a local teen, then try putting an ad in the paper for babysitters needed and then interview the people who do call you about the position. Another babysitter lead would be to post a flyer at the local high school and see if anyone is interested in earning a bit of extra money. You might get really lucky and find a permanent sitter this way.

Another category of baby sitters on the Internet is adult baby babysitters. Rather an unusual service, but it seems to be in fairly big demand. These babysitters are people who provide adult babysitting services to adult babies. Babysitters provide the usual services normally provided by a real babysitting service.
