Potty Training
When you have a young baby the endless diaper changing seems as though it will never stop – but there comes a time in all babies lives when they have to begin learning how to use the potty. This is a time that many new mothers dread, especially if her baby is resistant to any changes in routine. This makes infant potty training a difficult time – however with a bit of advice and a lot of patience it can be done with as little stress as possible.
Potty training baby girls is much the same as potty training baby boys except for the fact that boys tend to be ready for potty training somewhat later than girls. Potty training an infant is really not advisable, most babies are not ready for potty training much before the age of two. When you are an adult, baby potty training seems a long way off and you are not likely to remember the fears you may have had – just be aware that potty training can bring out all kinds of fears in children so patience is the key word here. Some experts do advocate early potty training, babies on the whole are not usually ready for it before the age of two. If you start too early you might find that the child will revert back to babyhood some time later.
When it comes to baby girls potty training is often much easier and quicker than it is with baby boys. Whatever you do don’t make too much fuss about potty training, which can happen with an adult. Baby boys and girls will both be put off if you turn potty training into a battle of wills. One way of getting started is to put some potty training pants on your baby when you are at home. If you also have a potty in the bathroom then when you go to the toilet you can pull the pants down and sit your child on the potty.
You may find that you need more patience with a baby boy. Potty training, for some reason, takes longer with boys than it does with girls. This can make for stressful potty training for adults- babies soon pick up on this and become resistant. This period can be stressful, potty training with infants should not really begin too early as the child might start to regress and want to go back to babyhood – by wanting a pacifier again or even a feeding bottle.
