Plastic Bottles

Recent research on plastic baby bottles shows many risks in using them. That is one reason why cancer from baby plastic bottles is being feared by many moms nowadays. This is because a plastic baby bottle, like those clear plastic polycarbonate baby bottles, can seep small amounts of chemical hormone. This happens when they are heated at a very high temperature. Still, everyone should recognize that polycarbonate bottles are still safe to use.

Parents are advised not to use clear plastic baby bottles but instead try using either glass bottles, opaque polyethylene plastic bottles, or bottles with disposable plastic liners. Still, beginners should not worry so much because further studies still need to be done in order to evaluate the real risks posed by heating plastic bottles. Regardless of which type of bottle you are using, glass versus plastic baby bottles, be reminded to follow the instructions for preparing and heating the formula carefully. These will be shown by its manufacturers. Boiling formula must also avoided for it can burn your baby’s mouth and causes the breakdown of nutrients.

Since we are less concerned with the sterilizing and overheating or the formula, the directions only require that the formula be warmed at room temperature. It may also be heated for a few seconds in the microwave. Still, some people prefer to prepare the formula the way their parents did. This is the old fashion way! They can also reuse plastic baby bottles. This can be done only as long as the parents do it in the “normal fashion” (by warming the bay bottle at room temperature and running it under warm water). This way the bottles are indeed safe to use.

Microwaving the formula is a no-no! This is because the liquid gets unevenly heated and becomes a risk in burning your baby’s mouth. Also, storing your baby’s formula in plastic bottles is not advisable. It is best to just put the formula in the bottle just when your baby is about to drink it. Also remember to discard any leftovers!

Overheating baby bottles and dioxins are a big no-no when it comes to preparing a formula for your babies. Having a variety of options for your baby bottles is not something you should be worrying about. Instead, the hazards that might put your baby’s health at risk can simply be avoided by understanding the dos and don’ts of using your baby bottles. Prepare the formula with this basic knowledge you should not have to fret too much!
